BLOOMINGTON SPRING/SUMMER CLASS SCHEDULE

These classes use cardio intervals to improve metabolism and cardiovascular fitness.  Beginning runners will learn to run, moving from mostly walking to running as they progress, with the goal of completing a 5K distance at the end of the season. Experienced runners will complete 30 minutes of interval training to improve their running speed and fitness levels, with workouts designed by our National Fitness Director, Olympian Carrie Tollefson. A short strength training component, stretching, and education conclude the class. Participants are encouraged to bring 5 lb weights and a yoga mat. This class meets at various locations around Bloomington with Coach Stacy.

Our specialty virtual class meets weekly via Zoom with Coach Stacy. 30 minutes to strengthen and tone!  Up the intensity of your weight training routine with heavier weights to build muscular strength and endurance, with a special focus on core training.  Modifications are available for all fitness levels. COACH STACY

Hi, my name is Stacy Severson and this is my 10th year coaching with Moms on the Run!  My love of running really developed when I was in college. I was the kid in grade school… and then high school, who dreaded running a mile. I never felt like I “looked” like a runner since I’m 5 ‘3” (with shoes on) and have never been super thin. As I met more runners, I quickly learned that the running community is made up of all ages, shapes and sizes.

If you’re working to get out there to run – no matter the pace – you’re a runner! I am not speedy, but have lots of energy and endurance and love running 10-mile and half-marathon distances.

I enjoy staying active with my family. I have teenagers (13/15) so sometimes this means dragging them out the door for a walk, hike, or snowshoe adventure. Our dog, Penny loves joining us on a variety of adventures.  We love being outside and on the water so paddle boarding and swimming are an easier sell for the kids. I have also convinced my partner to join me in the pickle ball craze!   In addition to my work with MOTR, I channel my passion for education and for helping others, into my work as Director of Enrollment at Augsburg University.

COACH JAN

I’m Jan Gustafson and this is my 5th year as a volunteer coach with Moms on the Run! I’ve always been active but never a runner. I set a life goal to run a 5k in my 50s and was not doing great at training on my own. And I had no one to run with, since most of my friends were not enthused about or able to run. Then I ran into a group of cheerful ladies running in Hyland Park. I found out about the Moms on the Run group and decided to try a class. That was over 10 years ago and I am proud to call myself a runner.

I grew up in Milwaukee, WI and went to college in Minnesota (St Olaf) where I met my hubby, Craig. We have 3 grown children and 4 grandchildren. I worked as a Software Support Analyst for Cray, the supercomputer company, for over 32 years before I retired. Running keeps me in great shape for all the other activities I enjoy golfing, biking, XC skiing and traveling. I have passed on my joy to my grand girls, who have participated in our MOTR races! I have a deal with them that when they outgrow a pair of running shoes, I’ll buy them a new pair.

Moms on the Run has brought me an incredible set of friends across multiple age groups, who are so supportive and lots of fun. We help each other reach our running goals whether that is to run/walk a 5k or to setting a new personal record. I’m so blessed to be a part of this team of women.

COACH MEGHAN

Hello, I’m Meghan and am excited to be in my fourth year with MOTR, second year coaching!

After not running for almost 8 years, I started running again in March 2020 as a means to combat the stir-crazy feeling from being at home. I tried running on my own but quickly found myself struggling to find the motivation to get out and run. I saw a post from Moms on the Run and started looking into the Bloomington group.

My original goal was just to get back into running and possibly conquer a 5K by the end of the summer. However, joining MOTR allowed me to reach so many more running goals over the last 4 years!

Prior to joining Moms on the Run I had never run with a group, and it was the most wonderful feeling to be supported from the first moments. I have since met SO many wonderful and kind women that have become friends that I cannot imagine my life without. MOTR was the group I didn’t know I needed and now are the group I can never imagine my life without. From daily check-ins with each other to impromptu and official group runs to the fun races we have done, I will forever be grateful for the amazing community that MOTR is; especially my Bloomington MOTR family!!

I live in Richfield with my family. My husband, Andrew, and our daughter, Charlotte, occupy the house with me along with dog, Sheeba. During the week, I can be found working with children as an Elementary Special Education Paraprofessional for the Richfield School District.

COACH SARAH

I have been with MOTR for over 6 years now and this is my 5th year assistant coaching.  MOTR has helped me in so many ways by increasing my fitness but also in building a community of friends. The support, encouragement, inspiration, and determination of our ladies has put a smile on my face when other things going on in this world have made it hard to smile.  I have been running for over 20 years now and being able to share my love for running and being able to coach these ladies, is so unbelievable.

I look forward to this upcoming session not only for myself, our return ladies, and new ladies, that wish to join and experience such an empowering group.  The friendships I have made along this rewarding journey are PRICELESS!!!!  I am most excited to coach also knowing this is an outlet for ladies, a time for themselves, a time to get away and release stress, etc. and I am happy to motivate, push, and encourage for greatness from them as they all have it in themselves.

COACH STEPHANIE

Stephanie will be coaching the majority of our Virtual Class Release and Restore: Yoga for Runners. Stephanie is passionate about yoga and the health benefits it provides both physically and mentally.

Yoga has been a part of Stephanie’s life since 2005. She received her Registered Yoga Teacher 200-hour certification in November 2014 and has been teaching ever since. She teaches Vinyasa, Hatha, gentle, myofascial release and kids yoga.

Stephanie creates a safe space, a welcoming environment and teaches from a place of compassion that allows students to explore powerful healing and growth.
